The CHS Music Boosters are proud to present the Red Satin Band in a benefit concert to support the music programs of Coventry High School. Members of this twelve piece band have a long history of performance with top names in the industry including names like The Temptations, Chubby Checker, The Drifters, & k.d.lang. In addition they are known for performing at many local and national venues as well as many benefits like Madison Square Garden, Hartford Riverfest, CT Children’s Hospital Gala, & WFSB’s “Better Connecticut”. CHS Jazz Band had the pleasure of hosting Red Satin Band last spring at their first ever Coventry Jazz Festival. Including local high school jazz bands from Bolton, NFA, & Cheney Tech, the Jazz festival brought high school jazz musicians together with the talented members of Red Satin Band for an afternoon of music workshops and rehearsals culminating in an evening of performances by all bands, as well as fantastic finale by Red Satin Band.

This year the CHS Music Boosters and CHS Jazz Band look forward to welcoming the Red Satin Band members back to our home stage for a full evening of swing, standards, and contemporary pieces that span the decades.

Red Satin Band is proud to support this fundraising effort for the CHS music programs with the additional honor of promoting the National Music in Our Schools Month (see http://www.menc.org/events/view/music-in-our-schools-month for more info)

COVENTRY HIGH SCHOOL BAND GOES FOR WORLD RECORD:

Several members of the CHS Band are set to make an attempt at a new world record this October 29th & 30th, 2011. The members will be engaged in a continuous group drum roll for 30 hours at the Veteran’s Auditorium Coventry High School 78 Ripley Hill Road, Coventry CT, in their bid to overtake the current record of 27 hr 23 sec, played by students of Rock Hill High School, Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA, from 8-9 May 2009.

The CHS Band is actively looking for sponsors for this fundraising event in order to raise needed funds for equipment purchases, repairs, & replacements, recording equipment, and travel expense reduction for their spring tour to Cleveland, Ohio. The CHS Music Boosters will be supporting the event by contributing foods or other supplies, beverages, supervision, and encouragement as well as help with publicity, securing sponsorships & financial donations.

9/28/11 - Drum Roll Appeal

posted Sep 28, 2011 8:38 AM by CHS Music Boosters   [ updated Oct 7, 2011 9:29 AM ]

September 25, 2011
Dear Music Supporter:
As we quickly approach October, our sights are firmly set upon the upcoming world record-breaking event set for the weekend of the 29th. And as daunting as the attempt of drumming continuously for thirty hours seems, the task on hand for the Boosters is seemingly as daunting.
We need help from everyone involved in and around the music department. From record keeping & validation of the attempt, to set-up/break- downs, contribution of foods or other supplies, as well as help with publicity, securing sponsorships & financial donations, it is going to take a large team to help support this once in a lifetime event for these kids.
In the next few days, you are going to receive some letters from the Boosters as well as others, asking you to offer your assistance with this project. I hope that you can find a way to support this challenge in whatever means you can. Remember, many hands make light work. For the meantime, can I please ask that you visit the link below and make a commitment today to this project?

I cannot begin to think what it will mean to our sons and daughters to be part of this history making moment and the memories that they will have to share for the rest of their lives. Please say you will be part of that memory.
Thank you in advance!
Sincerely, Kiev Federowicz
President Coventry High School Music Boosters
